Jon Bloomberg Accepts Position at Xcel Energy

It is with sadness for ourselves but enthusiasm for him that ELG announces the departure from ELG of our longtime partner and friend Jon Bloomberg. While we will miss Jon, we share his excitement for his new role as in-house counsel at Xcel Energy and wish him all the best. With Jon’s permission, we have pasted below an email update he circulated earlier this month. Jon, thank you, congratulations and good luck!

Jon BloombergAs many of you know, at the end of this month, I will be leaving my firm and starting a new position in the law department at Xcel Energy as the company’s primary air lawyer (but doing other things as well).  I am very excited about this new challenge.  Xcel has operations in 8 states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.   I will be working with those facilities as well as working on air policy issues.  Xcel is the first major utility to announce a goal to supply all carbon-free electricity by 2050 – they (we) will be 80% carbon-free by 2030.  I will be officing in downtown Minneapolis, but will likely be traveling a fair amount. You can get more info about my new employer here: .

I leave my practice with very mixed emotions.  My partners are great people as well as excellent lawyers.  I will miss them as colleagues, but I’m not going too far away.  I also will miss our fantastic clients, but I know I am leaving them in extremely capable hands.

For questions regarding Jon’s transition from ELG, please feel free to contact Ken Podpeskar, 651-621-2343 or
