Jeremy Greenhouse to Speak at Ethics CLE Event

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, ELG attorney Jeremy Greenhouse will be speaking at a lunchtime continuing legal education event entitled “Using and Abusing Our World: Examining Contemporary Environmental Issues from the Perspective of Minnesota and Talmudic Law.” Mr. Greenhouse will discuss select issues regarding Minnesota and Federal environmental law while co-speaker Rabbi Avigdor Goldberger will discuss the same issues under Jewish Talmudic Law. The talk, which is part of the Minneapolis Community Kollel Jewish Learning Center lunch seminar program, will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 at the offices of SeilerSchindel, PLLC, 5901 Cedar Lake Rd, Minneapolis, MN 55416. 1.5 hours of CLE ethics credit has been applied for.

Bloomberg, Greenhouse and Hefner to Present at 2015 CSWEA/AWMA Conference on the Environment

ELG attorneys Jon Bloomberg, Jeremy Greenhouse and Bill Hefner will present at this year’s Central States Water Environment/Air and West Management Associations – Upper Midwest Section’s Conference on the Environment.  Jon will present on approaches to clarifying Title V permit conditions and the compliance certification process.  Jeremy and Bill will provide updates on recent developments in water and air law, respectively.  The Conference will be held on November 4, 2015, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.  Further details on the conference can be found here and registration is available here.

Jeremy P. Greenhouse to Speak at William Mitchell College of Law

On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, ELG attorney Jeremy Greenhouse will be speaking at the William Mitchell College of Law as part of a panel hosted by the William Mitchell Business Law Society and Environmental Law Society. The focus of the discussion will be the intersection of business and the environment, including corporate compliance with environmental regulation, chemical safety, environmental litigation, and public land use and permitting. The event will take place at 6 p.m.

Jon Bloomberg and Bill Hefner to Give Legal Workshop on Addressing Noncompliance

ELG attorneys Jon Bloomberg and Bill Hefner will once again offer a half-day legal workshop to Air and Waste Management Association—Upper Midwest Section members and the general public on September 16, 2015, at the Wilder Foundation in St. Paul, MN.  At this year’s workshop—entitled “Everything You Wanted to Know About Legal Non-Compliance (But Were Afraid to Ask)”—Jon and Bill will offer techniques and strategies for identifying and responding to non-compliance, managing disclosures, and resolving non-compliance.  Additional details, including instructions on how to register, are available here.

Bill Hefner Named 2015 Minnesota Super Lawyer

ELG is very proud to announce that firm partner Bill Hefner has been selected for inclusion in the 2015 Minnesota Super Lawyers list. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of attorneys from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. Bill Hefner Recognized as 2014 MSBA North Star Lawyer

ELG partner  Bill Hefner has been named a 2014 “North Star Lawyer” by the Minnesota State Bar Association.  Each year, the MSBA recognizes members who have provided 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services.  Bill provided over 80 hours of free legal services last year to five different juvenile clients as a volunteer attorney for the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota.  Staff and volunteer attorneys for the Children’s Law Center provide legal representation to children who are either wards of the state – “legal orphans” – or have been removed from their homes because they are in need of protection. CLC also represents foster children who request help. Bill has been a volunteer CLC attorney since 2004.
