Environmental Law Attorney Vanessa Johnson Joins ELG

Attorney Vanessa Johnson Joins ELG

Vanessa Johnson’s legal practice consists of environmental compliance counseling and environmental litigation work. She has wide-ranging environmental law experience, including handling matters involving hazardous waste, RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, OSHA and state and federal wetland development and mitigation issues. In addition, Vanessa has experience in real estate law matters associated with environmental concerns. This includes contract review and drafting, and the allocation of liabilities created by environmental issues. Prior to joining ELG, Vanessa practiced environmental law at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly (now Fox Rothschild) and Igel & Johnson LLC, she was a founder and co-owner of The Wetlands Company LLC, and most recently served as Director of Regulatory Affairs and Operations for the Agriculture & Turf division of National Carbon Technologies. Vanessa’s extensive environment-related business experience enables her to bring a practical, business-centric approach to handling environmental law matters.

Vanessa graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Iowa College of Law, where she was a writer for the Iowa Law Review and Editor for the Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems.

Jeremy Greenhouse to Continue Writing Monthly Environmental Law Column in State Bar Magazine

Jeremy Greenhouse to Speak on Climate Change and Environmental Review

On August 13, 2020, ELG attorney Jeremy Greenhouse will be speaking on “Perspectives on Climate Change and Environmental Review” at the 2020 Environmental Institute, presented by the Minnesota Continuing Legal Education and the Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Mr. Greenhouse and his co-presenters, Jocelyn Bremer and Amelia Vohs, will be representing three different client perspectives – government, regulated parties, and advocacy organizations. The presentation will explore the rapidly evolving role of climate change in environmental review.

Bloomberg and Hefner to Present Webinar on Title V Certification Risk Management

ELG attorneys Jon Bloomberg and Bill Hefner will be presenting a ninety-minute national webinar for the Air and Waste Management Association on Thursday, January 18, 2018.  The webinar—entitled “Managing Risk in the Title V Certification Process”—will summarize Clean Air Act Title V certification obligations and address pertinent issues using case studies and examples.  Registration and additional information about the webinar can be found here.

Jon Bloomberg and Bill Hefner to Give Legal Workshop on Addressing Noncompliance

ELG attorneys Jon Bloomberg and Bill Hefner will once again offer a half-day legal workshop to Air and Waste Management Association—Upper Midwest Section members and the general public on September 16, 2015, at the Wilder Foundation in St. Paul, MN.  At this year’s workshop—entitled “Everything You Wanted to Know About Legal Non-Compliance (But Were Afraid to Ask)”—Jon and Bill will offer techniques and strategies for identifying and responding to non-compliance, managing disclosures, and resolving non-compliance.  Additional details, including instructions on how to register, are available here.

Bill Hefner to Present at AWMA-UMS Seminar in August

On August 28, 2014, ELG attorney Bill Hefner will once again  present at an upcoming Air & Waste Management Association – Upper Midwest Section workshop on current developments in environmental law.  Bill’s portion of the workshop will focus on Utility Air Regulatory Group v.
